The Old Workshop is a smaller room with a delightful patio with views towards the river with heating, a television, a fridge, a microwave, kettle, toaster, plus a table and sofa. In summer there is a portable a/c and fan.
It was originally a very basic storage room when A La Folly was a working dairy and, while Rob and Stef have completely transformed this space, the stone walls and charm have been retained. The Old Workshop has a stunning view through the French doors over Mobilong with the River Murray in the distance. Breakfast is best taken on the patio and you may even see kangaroos bounding down the road and across the paddocks. Make it a leisurely one. There is plenty of ground coffee with a plunger or a variety of tea if you prefer.
In the evenings, you can Netflix and chill.
But there was never any use for plumbing in a dairy storage room so, instead, there is a luxurious tin bucket. Immerse yourself in the colonial experience by trekking down to the river’s edge for your bucket full of cold river water.
Just kidding!
The water is hot, there’s a lot of it, and you even get a fluffy dressing gown. It’s a short stroll to the toilet and shower room and you can enjoy the art work while you sit. Check out the Gallery for images. If you would like to go back to yesteryear, there is a traditional wash stand in the corner for those moments you’d like to wash your hands. Check out our YouTube channel for a video of the walk between The Old Workshop and the amenities. Rob has since painted the toilet door and replaced the shower room door.
If you would prefer fully self-contained accommodation, The Studio and The Retreat have bathrooms and kitchenettes.
